German Doomsters SHEPHERD To Release Sophomore Album
July 24, 2004Defunct German doomsters SHEPHERD, whose sound was previously described by Doom-Metal.com as "old-fashioned riffing doom in the vein of genre legends like ST. VITUS, PENTAGRAM, THE OBSESSED and BLACK SABBATH," will posthumously release their second album, "The Coldest Day", on August 16 through Exile on Mainstream Records (Europe excluding Germany will receive the album on September 6, while the German release is expected on September 16).
The album was recorded by THE HIDDEN HAND bassist/vocalist Bruce Falkinburg (THE HIDDEN HAND, CLUTCH, STINKING LIZAVETA) at his Phase Recording studio in College Park, MD. It features guest appearances by the mighty Scott "Wino" Weinrich (THE OBSESSED, ST. VITUS) and ultra-slow German doom jazzers BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE, who recently released their critically acclaimed fourth album, "Black Earth", through Mike Patton's (ex-FAITH NO MORE) Ipecac Recordings.
